I was truly excited when I was invited to try the new menu of Habanero. I'm a regular customer at their Indiranagar branch and we did this food tasting at their Koramangala outlet. I love their pizzas and fajitas, and to tell you the truth, I have never tasted anything else.
The dishes are inspired by various parts of Mexico and the bordering American region. Habanero’s signature appetizers include Macho Nachos, consisting of layers of corn chips, topped with melted cheese, beans, tomatoes, olives, jalapeno peppers, guacamole and sour cream. The star of the show is their Holy Guacamole which, upon request, can be prepared in front of you. It is a perfect creamy combination of avocados, garlic and cilantro, and served with warm home-made chips.
Habanero’s specialty main courses include:
Fish Veracruz - steamed basa atop vegetables, doused with a tangy, spicy Veracruz gravy - a Mexican coastal specialty.
Chipotle Marinated Chicken – flame-grilled boneless breast with a smoky, spicy flavor.
Pork Green Chili Stew – a bowl of slow-cooked meaty stew served alongside soft tortillas, beans and rice.
Carne Asada – beef tenderloin rubbed with a robust Mexican seasoning.
Eggplant and black bean stack – a unique combination of tastes for veggie lovers: brinjal, black beans, blackened tomato sauce and grated cheese.
Stuffed Roasted Red Pepper – sweet red capsicum stuffed with paneer and rice served straight from the oven.
Classic Tex-Mex dishes on the menu include a choice of six fillings served as tacos, burritos, enchiladas, burrito bowls or chimichangas.
Signature desserts include the Molten Mexican Chocolate Cake with a decadently gooey fudge center with a hint of chili powder, the milk-soaked Tres Leches Cake.

The drinks served here are very tasty. My favorite used to be the Rebecca cocktail, but after tasting the Kiwi Mojito, this is now my new favorite I loved its refreshing and tangy flavor. Classic Tex-Mex drinks such as margaritas, sangrias and beer pair perfectly with the cuisine.
I love the outdoor seating area, which has a more relaxed ambiance. Habanero is a place for people to enjoy in large gatherings.
The place has a very contemporary Mexican style decor with its brightly painted walls. The colourful tile work around the bar area and flooring is amazing. As a designer myself, I notice all these details. Habanero is a little piece of Mexico, right within Bangalore.
Location:
Conveniently located in three central locations in Bangalore -– Whitefield, Indiranagar and Koramangala -- the restaurant’s proximity to companies as well as residential areas make it an ideal spot for business lunches and celebratory gatherings.

Guacamole Recipe..
How the Holy Guacamole is Made
Using a mortar and peste, crush and grind 1 clove of garlic, 1 piece of chili, a bit of spring onions and salt until it's a smooth paste. Add lime juice and mix. Scoop out the ripe avocado fruit and add it into the ground masala paste. Mash the fruit and mix well with the paste. Adjust the salt according to your taste. Garnish with diced tomato and coriander, and serve with chips/nachos. Enjoy..:)

Tres Leches cake..
The pork in soft shell tacos were good, but I think needs a bit more spice. The stuffed bell peppers in a tomatilla sauce was nice and tasty, and the paneer gave this dish an Indian touch. I loved the Fish Veracruz made of steamed basa fish in a tomato reduction, it was so tasty.
Chef Dan explained to us the long process of making the Tres Leches Cake which tasted really yummy. The butter cake was soaked overnight in three types of milk (heavy cream, evaporated and condensed). The milk which collects at the bottom is set aside and poured as a sauce when served. This is served with some fruits like orange and pomegranate.
Over all, I enjoyed the experience. The service was awesome. The staff members are very friendly, and the place is neatly maintained. Chef Dan and his team have truly added some amazing stuff on the new menu. I would love to see more authentic breakfast and egg dishes on the menu, as Mexicans are known for their wonderful breakfasts.
